[I am following Anne Brooke‘s 2021 #52tagshannemade slow stitch challenge to make a little tag every week of the year – see them all here!] Week 31’s challenge was golden bling, and since I recently was gifted a huge supply of embroidery threads (and other amazing things!), I opted to try metallic threads again. The day Anne’s challenge came out, I was sitting outdoors at lunch watching giant and gentle bumblebees, hence my design.

I found an art drawing online somewhere of a bee (lost now, I am afraid) and sketched it out on the fabric. I should have used interfacing, but live and learn. I dug through my stash to find a golden strip of decoration and a fancy button. I love that the button pulls in the gold of the bee and the silver I added to the wings.

I was also able to read a lot this week, and I am currently reading a book called The Bees by Laline Paull, so that just fit the theme perfectly. Overall, I found it to be a peaceful week.

Here is a different angle – clearly, that interfacing would have helped!
