I’ve seen fabric covered cords turned into bowls over the years and decided today was the day to try it out! I have a small collection of cords from various sources, and pulled one out that was long enough for a small bowl.
I didn’t want to think too hard about fabrics, or dig through my stash (which isn’t easy to get to, actually, as the box is quite heavy and tucked away in a closet), so I reached for a bag of scraps I inherited that were pre-cut (I think from my mom?). I chose some colors I liked together, and hand stitched them around the cord in random sequence. I do know this would have been easier with strips rather than squares, but you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit, I say.
It was almost too thick for my machine after wrapping it in fabric, so this is definitely more of a practice piece than anything else. But I love it anyway! I’ll have to buy the proper sized cord to make another, but alas, covid 😐
